  • Chapter One

    Miss Mapp spies on Tilling from her garden-room window, then Isabel Poppit telephones a last-minute bridge invitation she teases about accepting.

  • Chapter Two

    Miss Mapp curtsies in the road to a young man she mistakes for the Prince of Wales, after Mrs Poppit flaunts the MBE the King gave her.

  • Chapter Three

    Diva cuts pink roses from her chintz curtains for a new dress, and Miss Mapp steals the idea and covers her own frock with poppies.

  • Chapter Four

    Diva dresses her maid Janet in the same chintz roses Miss Mapp copied, and Mrs Poppit exposes Elizabeth's hoarded food cupboard at the bridge party.

  • Chapter Five

    Major Benjy and Captain Puffin quarrel drunkenly over whisky, Benjy sends a duel challenge, and both flee to the station only to laugh it off.

  • Chapter Six

    Tilling waits for news of the duel, but Major Benjy and Captain Puffin return from golf unharmed; Diva buys a crab to get the Padre talking.

  • Chapter Seven

    Miss Mapp has Susan deny the rumour that the duel was over her, which only makes Tilling believe it, then Diva arrives in an identical gown.

  • Chapter Eight

    Miss Mapp spies on Major Benjy, catches him drinking with Captain Puffin in the mist, then brands both men cowards who fled the duel.

  • Chapter Nine

    Major Benjy apologises to Miss Mapp for the duel, she forgives him only if he drops Puffin, then parades him round the shops.

  • Chapter Ten

    Miss Mapp arrives at Susan Poppit's bridge party in crimson-lake to find Diva in the same gown, then sees Susan and Mr Wyse kiss in the garden.

  • Chapter Eleven

    Mr. Wyse telephones that Diva's invitation was lost in Figgis's coat, and at his party the Contessa fawns over Miss Mapp while flirting with Major Benjy.

  • Chapter Twelve

    Captain Puffin dies drowned in his Christmas soup after a stroke, and Miss Mapp consoles the lonely Major Benjy with piquet and golf lessons.
